Remember those days?
When Mother was a pain
Telling me to clean my room
She would slam the door
And I would sit down on the floor,
Staring at my closet,
Waiting for you to come out.
My imaginary friend;
Whose voice made me giggle
Teasing about Mother.
Better than my sister,
Bolder than my brother.
*
I swear you would whisper in my ear
“Bake a cake on the carpet!”
No one will care
Eggs are great, even the shell
Sad how that didn’t come out
And God; did it smell.
*
I got in trouble that day,
I still remember her scream;
“What made you do that?”
I’d shift my feet and say,
“I dunno”, but secretly I did
For the reason was in my closet,
Cause that is where you hid.
My imaginary friend.
