- Laguna had momentarily closed his sea blue orbs in order to gain some rest. The creature only tended to do this from time to time, stretching from anywhere between every 2-4 days. He could refresh himself in a matter of 2-3 hours of an almost meditative state, neither awake nor asleep. In limbo if you will. His expression on his plain face was one of non-emotion currently, but over the next minute it changed. His eyebrows furrowed closer to his eyes as he frowned. His subconscious was busy, feeling out into the forest for anything untoward. It had truly found something. Upon seeing the monstrosity that was a wood demon, his subconscious traced its past backwards, in reverse to his mind, as Laguna opened his eyes wide, his face stern, knowing where exactly to go to confront this demon. He blitzed off his perch, leaving behind a kinetic energy that pulsated through the cave like some angry form of electricity as he leapt into the air, allowing himself to fall down the sheer cliff face, landing exactly where he intended; facing the demon, with Charlotte behind him. His face was stern and resolute; it had been a while since he had come across such a menace of the forest. He stared boldly at the creature, his composure and resolve needing no guess as to his position on the current engagement. He did not move, holding his ground, but spoke his own tongue, for he knew that a creature of the forest, no matter how pitiful or dark would comprehend it. “Mayja drec vunacd tasuh. Drec uha ec hud vun oui du dundina. E femm hud ycg oui du tu cu ykyeh. Ev oui tu hud tacecd, oui femm mayja sa hu lruela yht pameaja so funtc lnaydina. If you do not desist, you will leave me no choice and believe my words creature. You will not have ears tonight if you engage me. You will lose your ability to see. -The swirling leaves that formed the wood sprites, tinkered and laughed, their leaves whipping faster and faster till they formed into humaniods, maidens, with flowing forest green tresses, flowers wreathed into crowns on their heads, skin the colour of jade. Joining hands, they started to chant and sing a song, a melody to gain their attention, as their host the wood demon roared with laughter, his boldness against Laguna something to see. (Woody)”Errrrgh…blasgh!” he grumbled after his face became contorted with a look of madness and fury. He pointed past Laguna and in english he blurted. (Woody)”You know what she is?! Her kind are known to be the hunters. Why you allow such filth to walk in amongst the forest? (Sprites)”Filthy filthy….filthy filithy” -they sang, skipping around, their hair bouncing off their shoulders. Charlotte gripped her sword handle tightly, not liking this side of the forest at all. The tone of voice used by Laguna against the Wood demon was one that so serious, that the behaviour of the sprites and the Wood demon, almost mocking in reply. (Charlotte)”Even if he knew what I was, he knows I am but passing through. Do you see me kill anything here?” -she gestured towards a sprite, that poked out her tongue. The Wood Demon growled back. “Hartlot…begone from this realm or we will turn you into a sapling.”

- The young man held his ground, placing himself between the demon and the other at all times, affording himself enough space and time in his positioning should the current conversation turned into a physical engagement. “That is no reason to pursue another and you know this Demon” he quipped pausing briefly to bring aloft one of his enormous arms to point at the creature of the wood demonstratively.” I myself hunt, does this mean that you should tar me with the same brush as this one?” he began to say, his eyes quivering and flickering from the main target of his words and then to the sprites that had appeared in there taunting and annoyingly like manner. At this point the other piped up to add her own defence to the proceedings. At the words “Even if he knew what I was….” He felt an urge to spin and match her eyes with his to be able to speak to her, and to tell her he knew, and that it didn’t make any difference to him whatsoever, but now was not the time. He took a step towards the demon, replying to his retort (Woody) “Harlot….begone from this realm…” (Laguna) “You will do no such thing demon. These are my woods and to go against my will is both an insult and a curse on your part.” He took another step closer, conveying his sense of authority in these parts as he bared his sea blue orbs into the creatures. “You have 10 seconds to disappear from my sight” – he quipped, devoid of any tone of reason to argue back. -

CharlotteCarrendar: -The tree sprites made ooh’s and aah’s at the show down between the Wood demon and Laguna. Charlotte wanted to show her prowess with the sword, but they were after all just sprites, spirits of the trees, and cheeky ones at that. The main Wood Demon, was now enraged by the tone of Laguna, the time limit offered to dissappear would run out as the lumbering tree demon decided to take his chance, drawing his right bough back, long sharpened wood claws extended, he slashed it in an aim towards Laguna’s left side, where he intended to slice through his tanned flesh hide. (Woody)”Creature of flesh are no might for that of the Tree demon…AHAHAHAHAAHA!” Charlotte squealed in a high pitch sounding voice. (Charlotte)”Laguna…look out!” The tree sprites cheered, dancing and flying into the air, picked up as if they were weighing nothing more than a pile of leaves.LagunaEverae: – His eyes never moved from being cast on the demon’s, and they still did not falter when he drew his bough back, casting it towards his side at speed. And still he did not move. The sharpened bark fingers of the demon were milliseconds away from their intended target. And barely a moment before the impact did Laguna make his move. A boom of psionic energy pulsed from his core as he burst into speed, bouncing high into the air, clamping onto a tree before somersaulting off it onto the top of the creatures head, merely using it as a stepping stone before flicking his shape to fully 360 the demon, his back now turned to Laguna as he landed perfectly, the same fixed stare as before. The kinetic burst sent the sprites into a frenzy, as if they were caught in some inner forest hurricane as they spun temporarily out of control. And once again he stood, waiting, the only new part being to make a single statement “That may well be true demon. If I was a creature of flesh as you so adequately put it. Perhaps you should use more than just your eyes” he quipped at him, now in much more of a fighting stance, though once again he did not engage to attack the creature. He had been warned and would now face the consequences of his failure to comply. -

CharlotteCarrendar: -The trees sprites, bound up and caught in the this hurricane of energy would be blasted into nothing more than falling leaves, scattering as the wind died down, some settling into Charlotte’s hair. Well that was one way to hush the trees, but Charlotte was amazed with how Laguna used his psionic energy to propel him up and over the Wood demon in a daring display of skill and acrobatics. Landing squarely, he spoke now with authority, a voice that commanded respect. “Perhaps you should use more than just your eyes” This had the Wood Demon dropping his own leaves, the colour of his face was now the darkest green. (Woody)”Death…to…you.!”- A sudden crack, the tall mighty oak beside where Laguna stood, started to uproot from the ground, as if stepping out of its grave, earth flying in all directiions. (Woody)”T…IMBER!”- the tree began to fall, headed right for Charlotte and Laguna.

LagunaEverae: – He heard the demon’s words. This particular one’s failing was to simply be unaware of who Laguna was and in particular, the command of this particular forest. HIS forest. True enough, Laguna had authority in any wood due to his previous good work in the past. But in the forest where he grew up, that he knew better than any other, it was slightly different. He beamed into his eyes as he watched it enraged, only mentally saying to himself as it stated the words (Woody) “Death to you” (Laguna) “As you wish my forest brother” was his final retort and he pulsed into the air above once more, now for the first time drawing the enormous blade that had adorned his muscular back. And enormous was the word too; it was almost as long as Laguna, and the young man was known to be quite the tall specimen himself. He came into contact with the falling tree, grabbing it as they both fell towards the forest floor, Laguna now gritting his teeth and roared out “nnnnnnnnnnnngggghhhhaaaaaaa!” as a pulse of kinetic energy emanated from his core and filtered outwards, carrying the massive tree out of harm’s way as it clunked and banged against its sill brethren. Laguna landed, and wasted no time; Holding his blade aloft and began to spin. Endless spinning. He was a blur. Then he was more than just a blur, he didn’t even appear there, just a whirlwind of energy and air. The faint outline of the blade made its way on a downward path towards the forest floor, now littered with bark. It came into contact and slowed it’s pace down immediately as it crackled its way through a medium sized tree that had fallen in the madness of the battle. It cracked and split. Laguna’s face was momentarily seen, once again, still on the eyes of the demon. The speed of the sword and the sheer kinetic force had forged it into a seething hot tool, and merged with the dry bark caught itself alight as Laguna twisted his wrist and stated matter of factly “ Find peace in the embrace of the goddess” before pulsing it towards the demon, a tree of fire -

CharlotteCarrendar: -The spinning of the blade radiated such heat the magnitude would cause the bark to catch alight and thus turn this tree to one of fire. Fire…the demon of fire the enemy of the Wood demon, would be laughing, cackling at this sight. The Wood demon panicked. (Woody)”No…no…NOoooOooooO!”- as the flames roared up its weathered bark and the glow of orange and red flames, licking across his surface illuminated the spdier demoness, who had been watching this most unsual battle. Within seconds he was engulfed, a blazing inferno, turning to white hot. Suddenly, the Wood demon explodes, sending a shower of hot ash, that landed upon the crisp white snow, staining it and marking its beauty. The battle done, Laguna the victor, and only fair, for it was his forest. None should be so bold to attempt to take him on in such a challenge. As the ash fell it scattered across the spider demoness who rose up. Again, she was indebted. He was today her champion. She slowly reached into her pocket and pulled out a small box, and then offered it to Laguna. “Open it please?”- if he were to he would find inside a fob watch, an heirloom. “Please accept this…as a token of my gratitude.”

LagunaEverae: – He stood, statuesque as his temporary foe had come to its end. The words he spoke when he knew an opponent’s life was to end was a poignant one; For he had no desire to do such a thing, hence the reason for his two warnings. He sighed outwards, his shoulders rising and falling as he stood plainly still, his back to Charlotte, his eyes for the first time falling slightly towards the floor almost in respect of the dead. He heard the other come closer, a fidget of clothes that alluded to her pulling out a small box, before speaking to his back (Charlotte) “Open it please.” It began, but the great man was barely even listening. Once again he was forced to take life from another. He uttered a silent reply, almost a whisper compared to his usual tone. “Keep it. I have no need for prizes, nor should I accept such an item as a gift of life. It is compassion, not reason, that is stronger than death” the latter part of the sentence said as he stepped forward into the forest, before turning to her, a solemn expression on his charred bark ridden face “There are no lines in nature, only areas of colour, one against another.” -

CharlotteCarrendar: – He refused her gift, the token in the small box, and glancing down at it in her hand, she closed her fingers over it once more. Slowly placing her hand into the depth of her pocket, she was somewhat dissapointed that he kept refusing thanks and appreciation. Tokens or gestures, they were heartfelt. So, she tried not to show on her face, the well of sadness, and so masked it instead. “Very well then. I leave you in good tidings, I suppose.”- she slumped her shoulders, and wandered on past him, finally taking out a compass, and then looked up to the sky. Gathering her bearings, she decided to back track to Lorewall, the city of the nation that held all the secrets of the young spider demon. The horizon would bare the glow of a thousand lit buildings, rising up high till touching the very clouds. “Come on feet…its a shorter journey if one makes haste.” Charlotte padded down through the snow, her boots dissappearing with each step, a light shake of her head, to allow the settled snowflakes to fall to the ground, her hands pushed deep inside her pockets.

LagunaEverae: – He practically felt her disappointment, it oozed from her like a sad mist unseen and invisible to the nose, but not to him…”Goddamit” he said to himself, caged within his mind as usual. “Don’t do this Laguna….” His conscience would say to him. “You cannot protect those you know, you have to be alone. You HAVE TO”. He gripped his fits, crunching them shut with a crackle of his knuckles as he argued with himself. “Not this time. I can do this. I have enough. I AM enough.” He broke out of this mental state long enough to call out to the departing Charlotte. “Wait….” He began to say as he walked towards her, sheepishly almost, his eyes not making contact, too embarrassed to admit that he thought he couldn’t protect her if he was to go with her. “Look….” He began to say again, now struggling to find words; he briefly gritted his teeth, mad at himself. (“Just spit it out”) “I appreciate the gift; you shouldn’t waste it on me. Truth is….there is nothing I would rather do than….” His eyes flitted upwards to momentarily. “Spend time…be around…just be… “he stalled, struggling with words, he was trying to basically say “Be normal”. He continued “It’s just……not simple. I do not enjoy being this way. I have to be. Forced to”-

CharlotteCarrendar:- The young Spider demoness came to an abrupt halt, having just planted her right foot down, deep into the snow. She had to admit, she was somewhat surprised he caught her up, after the relentless knock backs of thanks and gratitude. “Wait” Yes, a single word was enough to make her turn her head, and soon he was right beside her. She glanced up with her crimson hues, one eyebrow raised, now seeing for herself that he was in fact conflicted. His jaw clenched firmly, practically speaking through gritted teeth. It was like watching him trying to break a force of habit, he had held for a long time. He did appreciate her gift, but knew not how to react, without seeming as though he was taking her from her something that he did not deserve. Truth is….there is nothing I would rather do than….” Charlotte had a look on her face of expectation now, clearly his words were like he was opening up to her. Honesty in its purest form, though each phrase seemed laboured.* “Spend time…be around…just be… Be normal” Normality? Now that was a new one, if ever Charlotte had heard it before. She couldn’t hold it back, the smile that showed on her face, light and humorous. Not taking the mickey out of him, especially in such a revelation. Charlotte reached up towards Laguna’s forearm, her hand to make a cup shape as she went to pat it softly. “It is okay to just be. Seems harder than anything, to be normal. I often wonder, what normal truly is. Take me for example, I appear to you in a manner which would be deemed by many as pleasant and inviting, one you think is normal, but in truth, I to wear a mask, my entire being, glamour for your eyes.” -she lowers her head, as though this is something of an admission. “I could be as my maker intended, and live out my life to the order, the way of my brethren. However, that is not what I chose. A different path, and one that is spread in front of me, its ending I cannot see, but the journey is one I enjoy.” She offers her hand, outstretched, if he wishes to follow her, to Lorewall, and a new adventure.

LagunaEverae:- Conflicted was not even a true reflection of the curse that Laguna had to stifle every day of his life since he was about 8 years old. In truth, he didn’t even know what the term ‘normal’ held for him; he just seemed to know that this existence was not it. He clearly had a heart and the emotions that were tied to having one, but was seemingly trained, honed, bred even, to not feel such things. To say he was a constant contradiction in both the physical and mental sense would be a slight understatement. He listened to her reply, watching her as she patted his muscular, but warm air, no doubt feeling a slightly odd feeling at touching the flesh of a polymorph. It took getting used to, to say the least. He found it so difficult to express an eternity of feeling this particular way, and it would take a lot longer for him to open up more. She had already managed to make him speak more than most would have done in weeks. He clearly felt that there was a connection that should not be cast off, discarded. “I understand” he simply said to her. “I do not know why I am like…..” he tailed off, using both of his hands to cast a shadow on himself, as if he was preparing to bow. “This….” He looked to the side of her, furrowing his brow, trying exceptionally hard to make a connection between the thoughts that were in his head and relaying them in words that can be understand. He looked to the heavens and briefly nodded to himself. He would try. He turned back to Charlotte, looking right into her to assess her reaction, her surprise. “I know 19 possible methods of attack from where we are standing now. I also know of 24 possible escape routes from this spot. I know you have a weak spot on the underside of your left knee. I know the safest spot from here is 47 feet – the cave we have just come from, and I know that at this altitude and temperature, that I can run flat out at a speed of 31 miles per hours for 22 minutes before my arms start to shake….” He looked downwards for a moment before returning his eyes upwards. “Now why would I know that…..Why would I know that and not know who I am….” He looked to her outstretched hand, a promise of a change and the possibility of him finding his cause once more. Despite how he felt, he knew he would take it. And so he did. And so they walked towards her home, one that he himself had never seen before. Lorewall.-

CharlotteCarrendar: – Charlotte intertwined her fingers in Laguna’s, her digits much smaller, slender, and fitted well. “Then let this be our journey forth, to discover exactly who you are. You have such knowledge on all the arts of defence, yet, how can you truly protect what you do not know?” -her voice filled with concern as they padded their way through the snow. Lorewall seemed so far off in the distance, but would grow closer by the hour, their pace would be steady, though the snow made it hard going. She kept up the chatter, it was something she was known for, as the sun passed over the sky. “Do you always feel that you need to be on guard? Do you ever just…relax?”- Charlotte asked, clearly now intrigued, in what made Laguna….Laguna. “I mean, I know I get this tiny feeling on the back of my neck, and sometimes…in my gut.”- she prattled on.

LagunaEverae: – He watched her slinky little fingers intertwine with him, his enormous mitts almost completely encapsulating hers as they strode in the direction of his hometown and perhaps, for Laguna, a promise of purpose, of direction. He answered directly to the first question “I do not know why I have such knowledge. I didn’t even know I could do such things. They just ‘happen’ and afterwards I am left confused. It seems to be my purpose to do these things. I do not seem to protect for any reason, least of all knowing the reason why…” They continued onward, Laguna remaining as per usual; quiet unless spoken to, constantly on edge, constantly assessing, scanning, protecting his own self and the other. It was ironic really that she ask about this. Laguna slowed his pace a little upon the question, a knowing look on his face that seem to hint that he had clearly been asked this question before, many times. And a slight confused expression once more seem to tell its own story- He still didn’t know how to answer it. “I tend to feel more relaxed when I am on, as you say, on my guard. There are a lot of occasions where I have attempted to ‘relax’ as others do. And every occasion I have regretted doing so. It is weakness. It is easier this way…”
