Ideas out of the box.

From my earliest childhood, I have found the one item that has been used over and over as a major part of my play and adventure time, and they  come in many sizes.

The humble cardboard box.

How many times have you watched a child unwrap a gift, and spend more time, playing with the box, than the toy?  And even as an adult, boxes are still used to create the most magical of things, the Cubby house.

Everything from space helmets, with pipe cleaners, cutting a large square hole and turning a box into a television, with my friends heads as the stars.

Cardboard boxes as cars, space ships, time machines, and a torture chamber for my cat!  (she used to hide in my dad’s beer boxes and swipe out at me through the holes.)  Why she hid in those boxes, I truly don’t know.  Tea parties in make shift cubby houses. better than any tree, or a blanket draped over two chairs.  (Mum hates us using the good sheets.)

One of the best boxes were the appliance boxes.  Like when Dad bought a new Fridge.  You should have seen the size of that box.  My sister and I made the coolest rocket ship, and I am pretty sure, we toured the moon in it.

Some of my happiest childhood memories, on those cold and wet rainy days, was playing with cardboard boxes, and letting my imagination run wild.
