“Oh…guessing games? How delightful. Let’s see now. How did I know who you were? Yes, that is a tricky one”
At that point a small white dove flew into the window, and rested upon Winnie’s shoulders as she tapped her lip. “How did I know?” She turned her head towards the white dove and whispered. “Should I tell her?” The dove started to coo as if it was talking to Winnie. Winnie acted like she understood, then nodded and whispered back to the dove. “I do thank you, but you might want to rest in a tree, for Mr Snookims wants to eat you for tea.” This was true, the white cat had already spotted the dove and was pawing at Winnie’s leg, all hopeful. The Dove took to the wing and then crapped on the cat as it flew back outside. This had Winnie laugh lightly and then remember she had a guest.
“Where was I? Oh yes, how did I know? A little bird told me.” She said proudly. The dove of course, was the spirit of the Lord. But Winnie was not about to explain that part. “Next question, who am I? Why I am Miss Winifred Childs, but you can call me Winnie. I own this delightful bed sit and boarding house for young ladies. Rather nice, don’t you think?” Winnie said, gesturing to the room with her free hand. The cat was now trying to get the dove poo off its fur without success.
“And the last question, what am I? Oh that’s easy my dear. I am one of God’s chosen. An Angel that walks amongst the living. And I would say you are too.” Miss Childs said slyly.

Her skin of her back tingled, her wings threatening to reveal themselves and possibly knocking over all the little knick-knacks and bobbles decorating the beautiful sitting room. She had to grit her teeth hard to keep that from happening.
Evangeline was quiet possibly one of the most clumsiest Angels you’d ever meet.
She waited until the feeling had passed, and noticed that Winnie had yet to speak to her. She looked up slowly to see that Winnie was quite possibly laughing at her.
The Lord may have informed Winnie of the impending arrival of the angel to her boarding house, but He left out one tiny itsy bitsy piece of information. Evangeline, was the biggest klutz to ever be sent down from heaven. The dramatic display, with the girl practically throwing herself at Winnie’s feet had the Elder Angel almost spill her tea on her lap. Mr Snookim’s screeched as an ornament fell from a table and bounced off his tail, sending him scurrying off into the next room, where you heard the shriek of Veronica who was almost upended by the runaway mad cat. With wide eyes, Winnie quickly set down her tea cup, and said repeatedly;
“Not the wings….not the wings….not inside…I have Royal Doulton that is irreplaceable!”
Thankfully, Evangeline managed to keep her wings in check, but only just. Taking the girls hands, she held them firmly, and then stared straight into her eyes.
“Child…calm yourself. The Lord works in mysterious ways, but He always has reason for what He does. Clearly…*she sighed*…He had a reason to send you here. And a sense of humor I might add.”
Catching her breath, she showed another smile, though her own feathers had been rustled and asked. “Please…take your seat again, and tell me…why you think you were sent to me?’

“I honestly don’t know why I was sent here. I was simply told I was being sent somewhere that may have need of me. I teleported to where I was told…and ended up in the bushes. I truely hate teleporting anywhere. I always end up off the mark and it’s very discouraging.” Evangeline sighed, sipping her tea and holding her cup tightly so that she wouldn’t fidget with her hands. She took a folded slip of paper from the pocket of her cloak and opened it. “I’m to take up a position as a school teacher for Third Form on Monday.” she stated, reading over the information she was given before her arrival.
“I’m a fish floundering in a sea of uncertanty.” Evangeline sighed. A yawn caught her and she quickly covered her mouth, as manners dicated, so as not to be offensive to her hostess.
“My apologies. I seem to be running out of steam, so to speak. Is there some place that I may rest?”
“You poor dear. Such a long way to come, and you probably haven’t had a good night’s rest in a while. Well, have no fear. There is a room all set and ready for you, top of the stairs, first door on the left. Veronica made sure to place clean sheets on the bed, fresh towels and a wash basin. Chamber pot is under the bed….and…yes, it has the finest down pillow and duvet cover. You will be snug as a bug. Don’t worry about the school or your new assignment. The Lord shall provide the answers to all your questions when you wake.”
The Elder angel rose to standing, and then picked up the bell beside her, ringing it twice. Veronica appeared and dropped a curtsy. “Miss?” Winnie smiled and asked her maid politely. “The poor dear is ready to retire for the evening. Make sure she has her clothes and her bag placed in her closet as soon as they are dry from the dunking in the bird bath.” Veronica smiled and then gestured for Evangelina to follow her. “This way please, Miss.”
As she would follow the maid out, Winnie would sit back down and take up her needle point, starting her sewing again, as the clock on the mantle chimed merrily.
“You can come out now, Mr Snookims. The young angel is upstairs.”
“Meow?”

Evageline smiled. “Thank you for taking me in, Winnie. It’s very appreciated.” she stated and Winnie rang for the maid. The maid indicated that Evangeline follow her and took her up the stairs to where she would be staying for the duration of her assignment. Veronica opened the indicated door and allowed Evangeline to step through first. Her blue eyes widened at the simply beauty of her room.
“Oh this is lovely. Thank you.” Evangeline smiled at Veronica. Veronica dropped a curtsey.
“If you need me during the night, just pull that cord beside the table in the corner.” Veronica stated, pointed to the corner beside the bed.
“I don’t wish to disturb your rest.”
“I’m a light sleeper, miss. You won’t be disturbing me. Rest well and I will have your things dried and in your wardrobe by the time you wake.” Veronica dropped another curtsey before leaving the room, closing the door behind her.
Evangeline took a moment to get her bearings before standing in the middle of the room. Closing her eyes, she opened herself up to the Divine Ones and let her wings flow free, bathed in a light so pure, it was difficult to look at. Her pureness, her innocence shone through and she felt calm for the first time in hours.
After a few moments, she returned her wings to their invisible state within her very being and her Pure Light slowly faded away. Yawning once more, she changed into her bedclothes nefore crawling into the bed provided. As soon as her head met pillow, she was sound asleep.
If only she had known that her Pure Light may or may not have attracted the attention of the wrong sort of persons…
