The first commercial in a campaign for Crunchy Nut talks to the spontaneous, “ooh go on then” side in everyone, about the sheer irresistible taste of the food.
Created by Leo Burnett, the ad takes the brand back to the traditional end line of “The trouble is they taste too good”. There’s just something about the golden flakes encrusted with their magic combination of honey, nuts and brown sugar that means that, once you’ve tried them, you’ll just want more, regardless of the circumstance…
In the first commercial in the campaign we see one such ‘circumstance’. Entitled ‘Snake’, we see an expert snake catcher, Mick, going about his business only to be distracted at the worst possible moment by his humble assistant, who just could not resist satisfying his craving for the cereal. With Mick distracted, the deadly Red Riddler, agitated by the loud crunch, leaps from a kitchen cupboard and settles up Mick’s khaki shorts to comic effect. The assistant offers an offhand apology, using the nuttiness of the cereal to justify his actions.
