The Director was standing at his window in his office, staring out at nothing. His best operative, Steven Mironi, had been in the clutches of a Russian bastard for nearly a month now and they were no closer to getting him free then they were before. Surveillance had discovered that the compound was a virtual fortress – walls as thick as steel covering all three corners, with cliffs at the back that only an expert mountain climber could attempt, not to mentions the miles of water…easily visible from the windows.
