The headlights of Shane’s car were seen to pull away from the front window of Amelia’s apartment, as she stood and stared through the sheer veil of fabric. Amelia hadn’t even bothered to turn the room lights on, even a lamp, standing instead in darkness, peering out of her home. Why did she feel so down about what had transpired at the club? Not like her and Galtem were ever joined at the hip, or THAT close.
The light of Rattle’s tank was the only light being offered in the room, and Amelia turned around, wondering what to do with herself. For the first time ever she felt so very alone, and cold standing in that room. She picked up the remote for her stereo and clicked play, with Birdy singing “People, Help the People” Amelia tossed away the remote and reached for a cushion, bringing it up under her chin as she just stood. In truth, she had created the walls around herself, by working her days away, coming home only to sleep and watch movies. She really needed to get herself out of this funk if she was ever going to truly live again. Shane was kind….for a womanizing vampire D.A. He at least was open about how he had his lifestyle, not swinging back and forth making promises that he knew he couldn’t keep.
“I can’t go on like this…” Amelia thought to herself. Her eyes darted to a letter opener on her desk, and she walked across to it and picked it up, turning the sharp blade over and toying with it, before using it to start to slash the stuffing out of her cushion, rather than using it on herself. Fluff and stuffing poured out onto the floor, as she let the knife fall from her hands. She discarded the cushion and sank down onto her couch. “I don’t want to be alone anymore…”
There was only one way to change her situation….and maybe the new day would offer the answers.
